The South African Hockey Association has revealed the marquee players who have been allocated to each 2016 Premier Hockey League team.

The marquee players include a host of players who have represented the South African senior men’s and women’s national team at international level.

Men’s national team captain, Tim Drummond, has been allocated to the Drakensberg Dragons, while his female counterpart, Nicolene Terblanche, will play for the Blyde River Bunters. Elsewhere 2012 Olympians, Lloyd Norris-Jones and Sanani Mangisa, have been selected for the Garden Route Gazelles and the Orange River Rafters, respectively.

Other big names in the marquee list include: Shelley Russel with the Young Solutions St Lucia Lakers and veteran keeper, Rassie Pieterse, who features for the Maropeng Cavemen.

In 2016, four marquee players, per team, have been specifically allocated to 10 teams. The two teams who have not been allocated marquee players are the SA U21 National teams, who are playing as the Golden Gate Gladiators (Men) and the Lip Ice Namaqualand Daisies (Women), respectively. The remaining squad places in each team will be allocated via the player draft.
